Cardinal Scipione Borghese commissioned both the Villa Borghese itself and many of the great works still on display in its gallery. Works by Bernini, Caravaggio, and Titian remain in their original settings, as envisioned by the Cardinal, a fiercely determined collector.
During this fully-guided tour you’ll hear more about Cardinal Borghese’s quest to complete his collection, and the stories behind the artworks themselves, including Bernini’s "Apollo and Daphne", Canova’s "Pauline Bonaparte", Caravaggio’s "St. Jerome" and Raphael’s "The Deposition".
Your guide will be an English speaker and an expert on the collection, and audio headsets ensure you’ll hear every word they say.

Start Location Notes: Meeting Point: In Piazzale del Museo Borghese, in front of the Borghese Gallery Main Entrance. (Villa Borghese entrance on via Pinciana) Our City Wonders guides will have a City Wonders sign with the name of the tour at the meeting point for easy recognition.
Start Location Directions: Arriving by bus: Get off the bus at the S. Paolo del Brasile stop at the intersection of Viale San Paolo del Brasile and Viale del Museo Borghese, close to the large white stone structures topped by eagles on either side of the street. When facing the structures from the bus stop (the eagle’s backs will be to you), Viale del Museo Borghese will be on the left just before the eagle. Go straight down Viale del Museo Borghese all the way to the end (it will go down to the bottom of the hill before climbing back up again). Borghese Gallery is at the end of this street. Our meeting point is at the bottom of the steps, at the entrance to the Gallery.
