Our first stop will be to a picturesque "kafenio", to start the day with Greek coffee coupled with the traditional extra thin handmade cheese pie "sfakianopita" with thyme honey on top, the perfect and most cretan way to begin your day.
A stroll through the Venetian port and old city's narrow streets we bring us to the oldest workshop where "phyllo" is made in the most traditional way the last 63 years and counting! This is where we will get some baklava for later.
Then, after we explore the most important historic and cultural sites of the old city until we discover a hidden garden that hosts a tavern is our next stop. There we will get a generous amount of Cretan "mezedes"-small dishes- accompanied by raki or Cretan wine.
Good food, quality drink and the shadow of the trees is all that is the best setting to talk about Cretan history, culture, way of living or anything else comes up to our minds.
When we're done, our tour will end at the gates of the city's fortress.
