We will meet up at our grillikota (BBQ Hut) and teach you how to build a cooking fire using traditional fire making skills without matches.
Next, we will work together to prepare a camp lunch or dinner using our secret recipe for fish (or vegetable) soup made the traditional way, over an open fire. No camp meal is complete without buns in sticks with homemade berry jam and campfire coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
Authentic to the Finnish spirit of sustainability, all our ingredients are sourced as locally as possible according to the season. We work with local fishermen (and women!) to use fish from the nearby lakes, buy potatoes from the farmer with the field next to our lodge and serve jam made from berries gathered from the forest at the height of the season.
Eating outdoors is something you will remember for the rest of your life. Did you know that spending only 15 minutes in nature not only make you feel better emotionally but also contributes to your physical wellbeing and reduces your blood pressure and production of stress hormones?
We’re pretty sure that by the end of the tour you’ll be feeling calm, relaxed and connected to the nature that plays such a big role in Finnish life and culture.
PS: If you'd like to experience your camp lunch paired with a long hike (in summer) or snowshoe expedition (in winter), just contact us and we would be happy to plan a tailor-made adventure!
