Your small-group tour starts either with hotel pickup in Rio (if option selected) or at a central meeting point. Begin your hike at the C sector of the UNESCO-listed Tijuca National Park and walk the steep trail on your way to Pedra da Gavea.
Observe native wildlife during the steep climb to the top. When the hiking trail ends, strap into provided climbing gear to scale the Carrasqueira until you reach Pedra da Gavea. No previous rock climbing skills are needed.
At the top, take in views of Rio de Janeiro below. At 2,770 feet (844 meters), you see Sugarloaf mountain, Christ the Redeemer statue, Ipanema beach, and more.
Rappel down the rock and head down the trail to conclude the tour at your original meeting point or with hotel drop-off (if option selected).
