The guided tour will start in the information center, where we will meet with Doctor Zumra Nuru, Awra Amba’s founder. It then proceeds to the museum, preschool where ethics and human rights are taught alongside literacy and numeracy, village’s libraries, followed by the retirement home,where elderly people are treated. Then after you will be taken to a family house within Awra Amba village, where you will learn how to make Ethiopia’s staple food injera,and traditional sauces shiro and lentils.after which we will break for lunch and nap.
After break in the afternoon 3:00 we will go to the weaving workshop, where you will have try weaving on our traditional hand looms, weaving product shop we will go to the grinding mill, where you will see different kinds of grain, including tef, small millet, corn, and lots of donkeys. Then we will proceed to the food oil factory, which is one of the pillars of the cooperative economy. After that we will walk the uper side of the village to see the first settlement place of Awra Amba community then push on to coffee plantation here, it is also good spot to catch the sun set.
