Your tour begins with a morning pickup in a minibus from your Reykjavik hotel. Along the way, your guide introduces you to the geology, history, and folklore of the small but fascinating country of Iceland.
Stop at the thundering waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss and, on a clear day, see the famed Eyjafjallajokull volcano, which caused air-travel havoc when it erupted in 2010. The next stop is Reynisfjara to see a black-sand beach, as well as surrounding basalt columns and towering sea stacks. In summer, look out for puffins and other seabirds, and take a lunch break here or in the neighboring village of Vík (own expense).
Next, head for Solheimajokull glacier, one of the outlet tongues of the icecap Myrdalsjokull. Walk right up to the glacier’s edge and touch the ice. With luck, you might even find an ice cave.
Your tour concludes with drop-off back at your hotel
