You will have the opportunity to take plenty of photos, learn how to inflate and paddle a packraft, walk in crampons on glacier ice, learn how the ice is made and eat your picnic lunch on the glacier. After exploring the glacier you will be guided back across the lake to complete a loop right back to the parking lot where you began the tour.
The kayak that you will use is an inflatable boat called a packraft, a lightweight, one-person boat that is small enough to fit in a backpack. All users wear a provided dry suit and personal flotation device (PFD) for safety. At the beginning of the tour you will be issued with your drysuit, packraft, paddle and PFD in a backpack which you will need to carry to and from the glacier lake. All of this equipment is very portable and weighs less than 10kg. The walk to the lake is 2km long and takes approximately 30-40 minutes.
Please note!
Drysuits must be worn on this tour and we have a limited size range available. We can accommodate for people with a height range between 150cm (5 ft) and 198cm tall (6’6 ft).
