Our tour begins early in the morning, with the departure from your hotel. We will travel via a comfortable vehicle 3200m above sea level, enjoying the quiet majesty of the landscape as we travel.
After departing the vehicle, your Mount Aragatshike begins in earnest at the southern peak, near Kari Lake ("Stone Lake"), a cold freshwater lake surrounded by alpine meadows, wildflowers and the backdrop of the snow-covered peaks of Mount Aragats. From this point, we will set out on a 10-11km Armenian trek up the southern peak of Mount Aragats proper, taking in the sights as we ascend and descend this majestic mountain.
Returning to our awaiting vehicle, we will return to Yerevan, where you may choose to visit the 10th century Amberd Fortress, one of the largest free-standing fortresses in Armenia. Its complex has local historical importance because of its uniqueness in architecture and Armenian construction. Not only does this area host a variety of rich churches, chapels and baths, but the walls and gates are deserving of exploration as well, to finish off your Armenian hike in style.
