Located about 165km north of the provincial capital Chengdu, Beichuan Earthquake Memorial Site is probably the only case of preserving the earthquake ruins of a modern town. Beichuan was seriously damaged by an earthquake that occurred in Sichuan province on May 12th, 2008. Despite of the construction work that has been done to make the ruins of the buildings safe, most of the buildings now remain almost the same as they did a few minutes after the earthquake. During this trip our guide will take you to Beichuan and you may walk on the streets of the old town and take a close look at those buildings damaged by that big earthquake. This place has quite a powerful impact on visitors.
