Start with a morning pickup at your Lima hotel, then make the rougly 19-mile (30-km.) trip to the Pachacamac archeological site in an air-conditioned minivan. Upon arrival at the site, continue on foot with your guide, who will explain the history and significance of the ruins as you walk from site to site.
Climb a series of switchbacks to the Temple of the Sun, which looks out towards the coast—some archeologists believe that the Temple of the Sun was once used for human sacrifices. Continue to the House of the Chosen Women, also known as the Acllahuasi, to see a series of distinctive, Inca-style trapezoidal doorways.
Throughout your time at the Pachacamac archeology site, your guide will share stories from the cultures that once lived and thrived there, as well as new information unearthed during recent site excavations. This tour concludes with return transfer to Lima, and drop-off at your hotel.
