Private Tour: Lujan de Cuyo Wine Region from Mendoza

Your full-day wine tasting tour begins with pick-up from your central Mendoza hotel by private vehicle. Having discussed your itinerary in advance, your guide will have everything arranged for your custom-made tour, so all you have to do is sit back and soak up the scenery as you drive through the vineyards of the Mendoza wine region, set against a dramatic backdrop of the Andes mountains. Along the way, listen as your guide explains how the region’s unique soils and ideal climate have led to the production of some of Argentina’s most renowned wines. Arrive in the Lujan de Cuyo region on the northern banks of the Mendoza River and stop at the first winery of the day. Take a peek behind-the-scenes on a 1-hour tour of the winery (own expense), followed by an expert-led wine tasting. Savor your first taste of Argentina’s world-famous Malbec and learn more about other grapes grown in the region, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Continue to the next winery and gain an insight into the wine production process as you tour the winery (own expense) and enjoy a second wine tasting. If you visit during the harvest months (February-April), you’ll get chance to see the de-stemmer machine that separates the stems from the grapes, and watch the harvest workers hand-selecting the grapes as they move along the conveyer belt. On arrival at the third winery of the day, your host will be waiting to welcome you for a delicious lunch (own expense), paired with more fine wines, after which you can enjoy an optional tour or wine tasting (own expense). After lunch, there’s just time to visit one more winery, where you can stroll the vineyards, indulge in wine tasting (own expense), and learn more about the fine art of grape growing and cultivation. At around 5pm, arrive back in Mendoza, where your tour ends with drop-off back at your hotel. Please note: This tour is fully customizable and the choice of which wineries to visit (depending on availability) is up to you.
