As you head inside the Alhambra, you’ll get an introduction to the creation and evolution of this famous fortress and palace. Learn about its founding in the 9th century, situated on a hill overlooking Granada’s nearby villages. Eventually this military complex was converted into royal palace by the Sultan of Granada in the 14th century.
Spend the next few hours wandering through this sprawling complex, admiring its Abassid architecture, intricate stonework and detailed ceiling designs. Soon you’ll wander further inside the Alhambra’s main palace area, allowing you to view the Sultan’s recreational area and the site’s verdant Moorish gardens.
