Private Tour: Bird Watching from Cancun
Highlights
-
Early morning is the best time for bird watching, so you'll begin your private tour with pickup from your hotel (Cancun or Puerto Morelos) at 5am. After boarding a comfortable private tour vehicle with your party, you'll head out on the road bound for some of the best bird watching spots in the Yucatan Peninsula. Stop at a spot near Puerto Morelos, where you'll listen to your guide's commentary about the ecosystem while waiting for the birds to appear. Look for the yellow-lored parrot, the Yucatan jay, the rose-throated tanager, and the orange oriole. Make your way deep into the Mayan jungle on the northern edge of the Riviera Maya, learning about the area's fauna and flora as you travel. Your guide may point out additional birds (you may see up to 90 different varieties) such as the painted bunting, the tropical gnatcatcher, the cinnamon hummingbird, and Vaux's swift. Before heading back to your hotel for drop-off, you'll refuel with an included snack.
