Private Shore Excursion: Bergen By Car

Your private 2-hour tour starts with a hotel pickup around 10am or 10:30am. You’ll be transported by private car around Bergen. This tour takes you to places by car, but then lets you also explore on foot, so please be prepared to do some walking during the tour.

First begin at the UNSECO World Heritage Site of Bryggen. Walk the wharf, and take in stunning sights of the area while your guide fills you in on important historical tidbits. Hear stories about the wharf being a secret hideout during World War II and daily life during the medieval times.

Next, your guide takes you over to one of Norway’s oldest castles, Bergenhus Fortress. Catch a glimpse of Rosenkrantz Tower and Mount Fløyen before hopping back in your private vehicle.

After your tour ends, your guide takes you back to where he or she picked you up from — your hotel.

Bergen city centre is very compact with much to see and hear about within a short walking distance. 3 hour walking and driving tour of the downtown heart of Bergen. Tour will take you to Bryggen, a World Heritage Site, the Bergen Fortress area & stroll passed old wooden houses, chimney houses & along cobblestones streets while hearing of Bergen's past & present. This will help orientate you and show you some of the unique places and sites that you may not otherwise find alone. The narrow alleyways will make you feel like stepping back in time to the era when the Hanseatic merchants dominated Bergen's trade, and you'll learn about the stockfish trade, daily life in the Middle ages, and about the Wharf as a secret hide-out during World War II. From the Wharf it's a short walk to the Bergenhus Fortress, with the royal stone hall and the Rosenkrantz tower. You will have the chance to visit Mount Fløyen with famous funicular - The Fløibanen
