A Beautiful and Memorable Day Exploring Rabat
Our day trip to Rabat gave us a wonderful opportunity to experience another side of Morocco. Compared with the energy of Casablanca, Rabat felt calmer, beautifully maintained and incredibly peaceful. The day included an impressive variety of stops. We visited the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the grounds near Hassan Tower, where we learned more about Morocco’s royal history and saw the resting place of former kings. We also explored Chellah, a fascinating archaeological site filled with layers of history. Another memorable stop was the Royal Palace compound. The property was massive—its scale reminded me of the Pentagon—and we learned about the residences, mosque and different branches of security represented at the entrance. It offered an interesting glimpse into the significance and structure surrounding one of the king’s official residences. The day also gave us time to enjoy Rabat beyond its historic landmarks. We stopped at a charming café for freshly pressed fruit drinks, visited a nearby medina for shopping and ended with a beautiful oceanside meal featuring grilled sea bass, vegetables and rice. The tour was well-paced and allowed us to experience Rabat’s history, architecture, culture, markets and coastline without feeling rushed. It was an informative, enjoyable and beautifully balanced day. If you are staying in Casablanca or Marrakesh and want to experience Morocco’s capital, I highly recommend taking the time to visit Rabat. It was one of the most peaceful and memorable days of our trip.
Rabat in a day
It started with a short ride from Casablanca and we enter the world of Rabat. It is a beautiful city with much history as told to us by our great guide. Our driver Taha was excellent. He got us in and out of Rabat with no problems. He took us to a great restaurant by the marina. Everything was wonderful.

Taha was very friendly. The guide in Rabat was also very good. There was a mix up for our pickup but it turned out ok.
