Meet your private guide and driver at your St Petersburg hotel. Then, travel by comfortable, air-conditioned sedan or minivan (depending on the size of your group) to the magnificent Peterhof estate, on the edges of the city.
Upon arrival, gain early admission to the palace ahead of the main crowds of the day. Set off with your guide to experience the splendors of the interiors as you hear tales of Peter the Great and how he intended Peterhof to outshine the grandeur of Versailles.
Admire the highlights, including the opulent Throne Room, main staircase and the stunning White Dining Room. Listen as your guide explains the architects and thinking behind each room, and hear how they have now been restored to their original glory having been severely damaged by bombing during World War II.
After the palace tour, proceed outside for a guided stroll of the spectacular Lower Gardens, famous for their fountains, and in particular, the spectacular, gold Grand Cascade. If the timing is right, be lucky enough to witness the fountain switching-on ceremony — an unforgettable occasion. Wander around the parkland to see highpoints such as Peter’s beloved, waterfront Monplaisir garden palace, and if you wish, break for a quick lunch (own expense) at one of the cafés.
End your tour with a ride back to your St Petersburg hotel in the early afternoon.
Please note: no fountains run and no early admission is available at the Peterhof during the low, winter season (October-April). At these times, regular admission is included in the tour cost.
