Private: One-Day Zhouzhuang Tour from Shanghai

Summary

You tour guide will pick you up at you hotel or an agreed place. Usually, it takes 1.5 hours to go to Zhouzhuang from Shanghai by car. You are welcomed to ask any questions about Zhouzhuang or other parts of China to your tour guide. Zhouhuang Museum is a must-visit in Zhouzhuang Water Town. Most exhibitions in the museum are ancient agricultural tools. Some modern paintings and photos are also collected. After visiting this museum, you will know why Zhouzhuang enjoys a reputation of the “No.1 water town in China”. Continue your sightseeing on the Mi Pavilion, a restaurant in ancient times. Because of the good view on the pavilion, poets in ancient times liked to drink and get inspiration on this it. You can also try to compose a poem while admiring the outside views from the pavilion. Next activity is a stroll on Zhengguan Cultural Street. Tea houses, herbal medicine shops, iron forges, textile workshops and calligraphy venues, almost everything related to traditional Chinese culture can be found on this street. You tour guide will find a restaurant for lunch for you while strolling. Feel free to tell him or her if you have any requirements about food.   Your afternoon’s tour starts with the Twin Bridges (Shide Bridge and Yong’an Bridge), the landmark of Zhouzhuang. The twin bridges look like an ancient key, so they are also called key bridges. The twin bridges are reflected by the smooth surface of the river and it looks like there are 4 bridges connected to each other. Lots of tourists like to take photos of this beautiful scene. Walking through the twin bridges, you will find the twin houses, which respectively belonged to two rich merchants, Zhang and Shen. The luxury decoration and practical structure of the two houses show you the wisdom of ancient architects in Zhouzhuang. We choose the Nanhu Qiuyue Garden to be the last attraction for today’s tour. The garden is divided into 4 parts, spring, summer, autumn and winter. You can admire the views of 4 seasons whenever you visit the garden. After the tour, your private guide and driver will transfer you to the place where you met in the morning in Shanghai.
