Start with a 9am pickup from your Florence hotel, and travel in the comfort of your private vehicle to the city of Siena.
Meet your guide when you arrive, and then set off to explore Siena’s beautiful historical center on foot. Wander the twisting medieval streets as you learn about the city’s medieval and Gothic architecture — the best known of which is Siena Cathedral itself. Have your camera ready for photos outside, then take a look inside and admire the intricate mosaiced floors.
Continue with a stroll around Piazza del Campo, site of the famous Palio horse race that takes place every year. See Palazzo del Comune, then bid your guide goodbye as you enjoy some free time in the city.
Use your time to shop for souvenirs and food. Many traditional Tuscan shops are located around Piazza del Campo. Look out for specialities such as pici pasta and sapori — the tempting almond biscuits.
In the afternoon, you’ll travel onward to Monteriggioni, the medieval walled village in the Tuscan hills. Hop out for photos, then stop at a nearby winery for a Tuscan lunch and wine tasting.
Finally, you’ll make your way to San Gimignano to discover the medieval town at your own pace. Gaze at its legendary medieval towers, and check out the Collegiata, Piazza della Cisterna, and the Rocca fortress for sweeping views over the surrounding hills.
Your day trip then ends with a drop-off at your Florence hotel.
