Private Imoleboja Rock Shelter/Esie Museum Tour from Ilorin
Tour info
Why take this tour?
The Esie Museum is the first Museum in Nigeria, established in 1945. It has the largest collection of stone images in Africa and dates back to 1775. Imoleboja Rock Shelter can aptly be described as one of the wonders of creation. It is a massive rock in which there are numerous chambers including a main hall spacious enough to accommodate between fifty people to one hundred people at a time. The Rock Shelter has served as a safety hide-out of the people in the Kajola community of Odo-Owa especially women and children during the war. It also served as a traditional hide-out for maidens who engage in pre-marital relations and became pregnant. Today the Rock Shelter is an amazing architectural piece located at Ipekun on the outskirts of Odo-Owa in Oke-Ero Local Govt Area about 90 kilometres from Ilorin. Odo-Owa Black Soap factory is the largest black soap factory in the world. You can witness how to make this soap which is super in clearing skin imperfections.
