Your day trip starts with pickup at your Aqaba hotel by private air-conditioned vehicle for the drive to Petra, nicknamed the Rose City due to the color of the rocks out of which the ancient city was carved.
Upon arrival, your guide takes you on a walk through the Siq, the 1-mile (1.6-km) canyon that acts as an entrance to the city, ending when you arrive at Petra's most recognizable feature, the Treasury (Al Khazneh). Hear about the founders of the city, the Nabataeans, and get a look at sites such as the royal tombs, the amphitheater, and a clifftop altar used for certain ceremonies.
When your time ends at Petra, your tour continues as you hop aboard a 4-wheel-drive Jeep with a Bedouin guide for a 2-hour ride through the red sandstone environment of Wadi Rum, a.k.a. the Valley of the Moon, a protected wilderness area. During your exploration, get a look at the valley's many rock formations, and watch the sunset in this desert landscape.
After sunset, your tour ends with return to your hotel in Aqaba.
