Private Excursion to Mysore and Srirangapatna from Bengaluru

Your tour starts with early morning pickup at your hotel by your private driver. Relax in air-conditioned comfort during the 2.5-hour drive to Srirangapatna, and have the option to stop to purchase breakfast on the way. Cross the Kaveri River to enter Srirangapatna, which is entirely surrounded by the river. Your private guide meets you in Srirangapatna and takes you to Ranganathaswamy Temple, a Hindu temple that honors the god Ranganatha. Continue to the town's top attraction, Daria Daulat Bagh, a palace with lavishly decorated interiors that feature colorful frescoes. Then visit the tombs of Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali, which have an elegant square chamber with a brick dome, carved stone windows, and ebony doorways embellished with inlaid ivory.  Drive another 30 minutes to reach Mysuru. Stop at St. Philomena's Church, a Catholic church that was completed in 1936 with neo-Gothic architecture that was modeled on the Cologne Cathedral in Germany. Take a break to purchase lunch around mid-day; your guide can provide restaurant recommendations. Then visit Mysore Palace, an architectural masterpiece that contains an array of gardens, courtyards, and buildings.  Top off your day with a walking tour of the lively Devaraja Market. Observe local people shopping among stalls heaped with colorful arrangements of produce, flowers, dry goods, bangles, and bindis. At the end of the afternoon, drive into the Chamundi Hills to watch the sun set over Mysore. Other landmarks nearby include the Chamundeshwari Temple, and a hulking black granite statue of Lord Shiva's bull Nandi. Rest on the return drive to Bengaluru where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
