Experience southern Italy’s most unforgettable highlights on a full-day private journey from Rome. Explore the ancient streets of Pompeii with a professional archaeologist who brings the city’s story vividly to life. You'll arrive just as the park is opening for the day to enjoy the ruins before the crowds. Together, you and your guide will uncover temples, homes, and plaster casts that reveal what everyday life was like. Then, sit back as your driver navigates the Amalfi Coast’s stunning coastal roads toward Positano, a colorful cliffside town with pastel houses. Enjoy free time to dine, shop, or simply take in the breathtaking views.
Begin your journey in central Rome, meeting your private driver and setting off in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle bound for southern Italy. The drive itself is a delight, with scenic countryside unfolding as you approach the ancient ruins of Pompeii.
Arriving early, you’ll skip the long lines and meet a professional archaeologist who has spent years studying this fascinating site. As you walk through ancient streets, your guide will bring the city to life, explaining how its bustling shops, bathhouses, and villas were frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. You’ll also see the famous plaster casts that offer a moving glimpse into the city’s final moments.
After the visit, continue along the Amalfi Coast, one of Italy’s most breathtaking drives. Enjoy the freedom of private travel as your driver handles the winding roads and you focus on the jaw-dropping views of cliffs and turquoise waters.
In high season, your destination is Positano, a postcard-perfect coastal village where vibrant houses spill down toward the sea. Enjoy free time to shop, explore, or enjoy lunch overlooking the bay. From November through March, the tour instead visits lively Sorrento with boutique-lined streets and sweeping sea views.
Your day concludes with a relaxing return to Rome, arriving in time for dinner.
