Meet a private guide at your Zagreb hotel for a 9am departure, then travel out of the city and into the mountainous Lika region. It’s a two-hour drive from Zagreb to the Plitvice Lakes, but you can stretch your legs along the way in the village of Rastoke. Stroll through the town, check out the wooden watermills that line the river, and pause for a coffee break in a Rastoke café.
Upon arrival at Plitvice Lakes National Park, the guide will design the perfect day of exploring for your group’s interests and fitness levels. There are walkways and hiking trails that wind between the jewel-colored lakes, which are linked by a series of picture-perfect waterfalls. Following your walk, board an electric boat for the trip across Kozjak Lake, lined with thick forest and karst formations that drop to the edge of the water.
After your time at Plitvice Lakes, head to a nearby restaurant for a hearty, three-course lunch of traditional regional cuisine. When your leisurely meal concludes, begin the return trip to Zagreb, arriving at your hotel by roughly 6pm.
