Why take this tour?

This is a one day private tour to the 19th century German settlement in Georgia called Asureti/Elizabethtal. Throughout the tour guests will get the information what was the reason for Germans' arrival so far from their homeland, will see the houses they were living in, will see the cemetery where Germans living here are buried and most importantly will see the beautiful German style cathedral. During the tour guests will also have the opportunity to see the ruins of Georgian Samsvhilde fortress which is in half an hour drive from Asureti/Elizabethtal. Guests will do a very short, 20 minute hike to the fortress. After doing the hike and seeing Elizabethtal the guests with the guide will head for lunch. The owner of the lunch place is a famous Georgian cheese maker & historian. Guests will get the information about Georgian cheese, try different cheese varieties and traditional Georgian dishes. On finishing the lunch they will head back to Tbilisi.
