Explore the caves with your guide by following along a boardwalk that winds through the chambers, which feature colorful lighting that shows the superb collection of stalactites, stalagmites, and other rock formations. Your final stop is Lugou Bridge (Lugouqiao) or Marco Polo Bridge, built more than 800 years ago in the Jin dynasty and now the oldest bridge in Beijing. Marco Polo Bridge is considered an architectural masterpiece, as well as the place where the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945) started in 1937, known as the Marco Polo Bridge Incident.
