The Prater is a large public park in Vienna's 2nd district called Leopoldstadt, the Jewish district. Here is one of the most important sights, the Giant or Ferris wheel. From the year 1560 until 1920 the area was a hunting ground. In 1766 the emperor Joseph II declared the Prater to be free for public enjoyment, and allowed the establishment of coffee shops. The Hauptallee is the main avenue, lined with horse chestnut trees and known from the annual Vienna Marathon. We are offering a one hour tour thru the park.
