Postojna Cave and Castle Small-Group Day trip from Ljubljana

Your tour begins at your Ljubljana hotel, where you’ll board a climate-controlled vehicle destined for Potstojna Cave. On arrival here, you’ll board an electric train and embark on a journey through one of Slovenia’s most popular attractions.

Dramatic stalactite formations, limestone curtains, and mysterious passages demand attention and cavernous voids seem to swallow you whole. After the train ride, spend some time exploring the caverns on foot before you proceed to your second stop.

Following a short journey, arrive at Predjama Castle — a mysterious, 800-year-old landmark perched impregnably at the mouth of a hillside cave. Take a guided tour of the unconquerable castle, the largest cave-castle in the world, to see armory and richly furnished rooms, and to learn the legend of Erasmus, the Slovenian rebel associated with the castle.

Your tour concludes with drop-off back at your Ljubljana hotel.

You will discover the underground world of Postojna Cave, the most popular karst cave in the world. The guided tour will consist of a journey by electrical train and will be followed by a walk through beautiful chambers and passages with spectacular drop stones, pillars, limestone curtains and other unforgettable formations.

Continue to the idyllic village of Predjama where you will be amazed by the fairy-tale medieval Predjama Castle with its dramatic setting in the gaping mouth of a cavern, halfway up a hillside. Learn about the legend of the famous Erasmus – ‘Slovenian Robin Hood’, stop for local spirits tasting in Postojna (available from April 1st) and return back to Ljubljana.
