Pedernales Salt Flat

Nestled in the middle of the Domeyko and Claudio Gay mountain ranges, 3,346 meters above sea level and about 237 km from the city of Copiapó. It corresponds to a vast extension of salt flats located in a depression between mountains, forming lagoons with turquoise blue waters on its inner margins.

In the sector, fauna such as Andean, Chilean and James flamingos and Juarjual ducks inhabit. It is characterized by being surrounded by hills where remains of marine fossils have been found, including the Doña Inés Volcano, Los Gemelos and Blanco.

Activities such as excursions, photography, observation of flora and fauna and adventure tourism can be carried out.
