After meeting your guide at a centrally located Kathmandu hotel, ride with your guide to Pashupatinath via public transportation.
Once there, you’ll have a chance to meet the bearded, ash-smeared holy men known as sadhus. Your guide will be on-hand to teach you about Hindu beliefs and the importance of Shiva, the 3-eyed god who is Nepal’s patron deity. Next, you’ll hop a local bus to the stupa of Boudhanath, which draws pilgrims from all over the world. You can join Buddhists in circling the world-famous landmark, rotating prayer wheels as you go.
Your guide will also introduce you to resident monks, who will share insights into local Buddhist traditions. For an even deeper immersion into Nepal’s spiritual traditions, upgrade to have your stars read in consultation with a famous local astrologer.
