Why take this tour?
You will start the tour at The National Museum of Art, this is one of the many museums CDMX offers, but this one perhaps holds the most value. Formerly a palace, the Museo Nacional de Artes has a huge collection of artwork from ancient times to the present. Its one of the palaces left by the Spaniards and is held of high historical value to Mexico. The history of Mexican art from the second half of the XVI century to the first part of the XX century is on show here.
After this, and for an insightful view of the nation’s economy, you will stop by the National Bank of Mexico. The heart of the financial well-being of Mexico is located. This is also the birthplace of the Peso, national currency of Mexico. The peso banknotes and coins continue to be printed here and circulated all over the country.
Another building worth entering is the post building or, as it’s better known here, The Palacio de Correos de Mexico (Postal Palace of Mexico City). The architectural style of this building is magnificent and a wonder to behold on all sides. One cannot truly place a finger on the definite style used by the architect, with terms such as Art Nouveau, Moorish, Venetian Gothic Revival, Baroque, Neoclassical, Spanish Renaissance Revival, and more being tossed around. And once inside, the gold-plated interiors and exteriors of this old building is sure to leave you breathless.
And one cannot come to Mexico City without visiting the Palacio de Bellas Artes. This is one of the most prominent buildings in the country and holds huge importance in the arts sector. The Bellas Artes Palace is the center for coordinating the artistic and cultural activities of the country. Get a view of murals on the top floors of the white-marble palace. These murals were curated by famous Mexican artists and dominated the large palace. The bronze entrance and huge interiors are parts of the tour guide you can’t miss out on, so book one today.
