One-Day Private Great Wall Hiking Tour from Simatai West to Jinshanling

After early pickup from your central Beijing hotel, journey into the countryside by comfortable, air-conditioned coach. As you travel, listen to your guide share information about the Great Wall’s Jinshanling section. Built during the Ming dynasty between 1368 and 1644, and located in the mountains of Luanping County, Jinshanling is favored by hikers, and much less visited than other, fully restored stretches. Stop on route for a simple breakfast, and after about three hours’ traveling, arrive at your hike start point on the eastern side of Jinshanling. Then, set off on your 6-mile (10-kilometer) trek with your guide, who will accompany you throughout. Absorb the untamed mountains and landscapes as you walk from watchtower to watchtower, negotiating areas of uneven terrain along the way. Learn about the wall’s construction, and stop for photos of the great edifice snaking along the ridges before you. If you want to rest your legs, choose to ride the cable cars up and down the mountains (own expense). After your approximately 4-hour hike, refuel with a late lunch at a traditional Chinese restaurant. Then, relax on your return journey, ending your trip at your Beijing hotel at about 4pm.
