In 1603 the first Tokugawa shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu, built the Edo castle and established the Edo government. This is the beginning of Edo, which is the old name of Tokyo. From then on, Tokyo's history and Tokyo culture started. Tokyo Cruise (the Sumida river: Asakusa to Hamarikyu Garden) takes about 40 minutes. The ocean views are waiting for you.
