Old Delhi Shopping Experience

Meet your guide and head down Old Delhi's main street, Chandni Chowk, a wide commercial strip lined with shops of many different items. Stop outside Gurudwara Sis Ganj, a Sikh temple, and listen to a little commentary about the site before continuing your walk to Old and Famous Jalebiwala, a restaurant where you'll get some crispy snacks, jalebis, to munch on for your shopping spree, which you'll start at Dariba Kalan, a lane famous for its silver jewelry. Listen to stories about this spot as you browse jewelry at roughly 50 shops along the whole street. You can also shop for perfumes before moving on to Kinari Bazaar, a street known for its beautiful laces and wedding items, as well as for being where Indian designers shop for raw materials. Take a break at Paranthe Wali Gali (the lane of stuffed breads) to refuel, and then proceed with your shopping at Malliwara, a street known for Indian ethnic wear, where ladies can try on saris. As you reach Nai Sarak (New Street), note how it's divided into two main items for sale—books and ethnic wear. Browse all different kinds of books, from fiction to biographies, and look for items at super bargain rates; used books are also available. Then your guide takes you to Ballimaran, home to shops selling footwear and bangles. On the way, you can try a cookie from the popular bakeries of this area. Your last stop is Asia's biggest spice market, Khari Baoli, one of the top market destinations in Delhi. After emerging from this labyrinth, something refreshing is a must, so you'll end your tour with rabbi faluda, a sweet treat, at Gianni’s, just like the locals do after a satisfying shopping experience in Old Delhi.
