Your tour starts with morning pickup at your Delhi hotel. Ride in your private air-conditioned vehicle with your guide to your first destination, the Laxminarayan Temple. Intricate carvings decorate the striking red and gold colored temple, which was built in honor of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi. Mahatma Gandhi attended the temple’s inauguration in 1938.
Continue to Old Delhi to see two World Heritage Sites: Jama Masjid and the Red Fort. Jama Masjid was constructed for the fifth Mughal emperor in 1656, and remains India's largest mosque. The capital of the Mughals until 1857 was the Red Fort (Lal Qila), which stands within the walls of Old Delhi a short distance from Jama Masjid.
Continue into the heart of New Delhi to view the massive India Gate, which measures 138 feet (42 meters) high and is frequently likened to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Take a drive past imposing government buildings including Parliament House, the Delhi Secretariat, and the President’s House (Rashtrapati Bhavan) — the official home of the President of India, which includes an enormous mansion and extensive gardens.
Stop for lunch (own expense) before visiting Humayun's Tomb, built in the 1500s for the Mughal emperor Humayun. Next, head to the southern section of the city to see Qutub Minar, the tallest minaret in India.
Have time for some shopping before your driver returns you to your hotel at 5pm to end your tour.
