-
Avoid getting lost in the jungle of San Lorenzo National Park
-
Increase your chances of seeing the wildlife of Monkey Island with a guide
Summary
After hotel pickup in an air-conditioned minibus, your tour begins with a boat ride on the waterways adjacent to the canal: you see jungle wildlife, navigate Gatun Lake, and watch massive ships pass through the canal.
Visit the famous Monkey Island, home to capuchins, howlers, and tamarins, before traveling to the Caribbean side of Panama and the Agua Clara Visitor Center. Here, watch ships pass through the newly expanded “Panamax” locks from a canal-side observation deck and learn about the history, operation, and importance of the Panama Canal.
Next, visit San Lorenzo National Park to see rainforest flora and fauna followed by a picnic lunch and a tour of Fort San Lorenzo, a 400-year-old Spanish fort on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean. One of the most historically important spots in Panama, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the fort repelled pirates as part of the defensive system that protected the transatlantic trade of the Spanish Crown.
Your full-day tour ends with a return to your hotel in Panama City.
