Meet your guide at a central meeting point and set off for the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. Not to be confused with St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Midtown, this historical church in Lower Manhattan has been a landmark for more than 200 years, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
With a group for company, you learn about the church’s history, as well as the famous names who once frequented it (and who still rest in its catacombs), including the first resident bishop of New York City. The tour includes the rare opportunity to explore the catacombs, as well as other areas of the landmark that are normally barred to visitors.
On the tour, discover the church’s pipe organ, tour its two walled cemeteries, explore the choir loft, and more. As you go, your guide will share stories about its place in New York history.
