After meeting at Fisherman's Wharf, your tour starts with the drive north from San Francisco, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge to reach Muir Woods National Monument, a grove of ancient coastal redwoods located in a tranquil canyon. As you walk along the paths through the forest, stare up at the towering trees, reaching up to 260 feet tall (79 meters), which thrive on the cool misty air in this part of California.
Next, return to the coach for the drive back toward the city, detouring through the bayside town of Sausalito. The village is a favorite destination, known for its restaurants and picturesque waterfront scenery. If you wish, you have the option to extend your time here on your own and add on a ferry ride to get back to the city, instead of taking the coach.
When you return to San Francisco, you are free to visit the Aquarium of the Bay with your included admission. At this marine center on Pier 39, see the fish and other aquatic life of the local waters, such as moon jellyfish, Pacific sea nettles, anchovies, sea bass, and sea stars. Walk through near-shore habitats and a clear tunnel that displays the deeper waters of the bay.
