Nagarkot – Chagunarayan – Bhaktapur Full Day Hike

Enjoy 7 hours hiking activity near Kathmandu. In the morning your guide and vehicle will pick you up from your hotel. Drive to Nagarkot located 38 kilometers East of Kathmandu city along scenic winding highway. Your vehicle will drop you at Nagarkot. Hike to View Tower to witness landscape and the Himalayan range view. Nagarkot is a popular hill station located close to Kathmandu, offering a stretched view of ranges from Annapurna to Everest range. If weather is clear you can also see Mount Everest from here.

Start your hiking following downhill route through forest and farmland. Explore typical villages located en-route to see countryside lifestyle and faces. The villages located en-route are dotted with indigenous community settlements such as Tamang, Newar, Chhetris and Brahmins. This is an excellent opportunity to witness ancient farming techniques and see crops being harvested in a traditional style.

Reach to Chagunarayan temple, oldest Hindu temple in Nepal is decorated with carved doors and torans. Due to excellent wood carving masterpieces inside the temple, it’s listed as a heritage site by UNESCO. Visit the temple and local town, Newari, following stone paved narrow lanes.

Then continue to walk to Bhaktapur which is one of the best preserved royal cities. Visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Golden Gate, Royal Bath and other temples located in the Durbar Square area. Follow narrow lanes to reach Nayatapla Square & walk further down to Pottery Square to see some mud work.
