Rise before dawn to meet your guide in the lobby of your Hoi An hotel. A later start time can be arranged for those who prefer, but arriving at My Son Sanctuary around sunrise is optimal. Board a military Jeep and travel past rice fields in the Thu Bon River Delta region. You'll make a stop at a bustling market gathered around an ancient banyan tree. Sip Vietnamese coffee while you stroll and watch the market come to life.
Your countryside journey continues to a local village where you're served a traditional Vietnamese breakfast. From here, it's a short ascent on foot along a jungle path to the silent ruins of My Son.
Reaching the top, an impressive collection of red-brick structures, dating back to the 4th to 13th centuries, comes into view. You'll explore the UNESCO-listed Cham temples as your guide explains their religious and historical significance. While you learn about the burial site for Cham royalty, listen to the sounds of Champa music accompanying a traditional dance performance.
On the return drive to Hoi An, your guide avoids the main roads via rice paddies where photo ops abound.
Note: If you've upgraded for full-day tour at booking, you'll see more of the countryside and travel through villages. A traditional lunch of my quang soup is provided.
