Mountaintop views of Africa.
From the village of Jimera we explore the Guadiaro river valley and surrounding hills. We climb up to a peak of nearly 900m at the Africa Mirador, with views of Gibraltar and Africa in the far distance. A demanding ride with long climbs and great descents.
A dramatic ride with long climbs, great descents and fantastic cross-country riding. This route will see you climbing high for fantastic views of the Genal valley, the Alcornocales Natural Park and the Guadiaro River.
A short drive from Ronda takes us to Jimera Estacion, a small hamlet on the Guadiaro River at the base of a ridge of mountains. A long and steady climb on dirt tracks and quiet roads takes us up the side of the mountain to the highest point of our ride at the Africa Mirador. The Mirador lies on the path of many birds (particularly large birds of prey) on their bi-annual migrations between Europe and Africa and from up here we enjoy unrivalled views of Gibraltar’s famous Rock and across the Mediterranean Sea to Africa.
We then enjoy a terrific, long, sometimes challenging descent to finish back by the River Guadiaro. There is time for an optional cooling dip in the river.
