Mount Meru, the second highest mountain in Tanzania, stands 4566 metres high. Situated within Arusha National Park as a centerpiece, one is likely to encounter various wild animals during the initial part of the trek, and therefore an armed ranger will accompany you throughout your journey. Many consider this trek physically more challenging compared to the Marangu or Rongai trail due to the steepness in the upper part of the mountain.
