Set your alarm for an early start, as your day begins with pick-up from your hotel between 1.30am and 2.30am. On arrival at the base of Mount Batur (an around 2.5-hour drive from Kuta or 1.5-hour drive from Ubud), meet your guide and set out on the around 2-hour climb by twilight. After a challenging uphill hike, arrive at the 9,066-foot (1,717-meter) summit between 5.30am and 6am, and reward yourself with a delicious breakfast and hot coffee as you await the sunrise.
Make sure you have your camera ready as you watch the spectacular sunrise over the sacred volcano and admire dazzling views of Lake Batur and the caldera below. After soaking up the scenery, set out on the around 1.5-hour return trek.
At around 9am, jump back in the bus for the around 1-hour drive to the riverside, where you’ll meet your white water rafting instructor. After listening to the safety briefing and learning the basic maneuvers, get suited up in a helmet and life jacket, grab a paddle, and take to the water.
Set out on a thrilling white water rafting excursion, paddling down a 10-mile (16-kilometer) stretch of the river, and tackling Class II and III rapids. Along the way, glide past lush rainforest and cascading waterfalls, pass traditional bamboo bridges and Hindu shrines, and spot wildlife along the waterside. At the end of your experience, you’ll have time to shower and change before sitting down to refuel with a delicious buffet lunch (included) at a local restaurant.
Make one final stop before you return to your hotel – at a Luwak coffee plantation, where you can learn the secrets of the world’s most expensive coffee, and sample a range of Balinese teas and coffees.
Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 4.30pm.
