Then, follow your local guide until Piazza Mercanti, an hidden gem just a few steps from the Duomo.

See the Scala Opera House, Temple of Opera, and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, an opulent shopping mall topped with vaulted glass and iron arcades.
