Walking along the famous Ocean Drive, right in front of the beach, your tour begins. It tells you the story of how the Art Deco architectural movement begins in Miami. A local Miami character's voice takes you on this self-guided journey. You will hear special commentary recognizing the efforts of the Art Deco Welcome Center and the Design Preservation League. As you admire the Clevelander on Ocean Drive, you will learn some of the history of the foundation of Miami. The tour then leads you to discover a well-known but sad story, that of the murder of Gianni Versace, as you stop in front of his beautiful Villa Casa Casuarina. You will pass by the Tides Hotel and learn some history about the Great Depression and how it provided the beginning of Art Deco as an artistic movement that emerged in the 1920s. Your tour will end as you admire the Leslie Building on Ocean Drive and other buildings in the area.
