Medici Treasures: Pitti Palace & Boboli Gardens Small Group Tour

We could have walked the palace ourselves without a docent. She was kind enough to point out the most famous pieces but did not present the information in an interesting manner.

My husband and I enjoyed the tour of the museum and gardens. Our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable. We stayed after the tour and explored the costume exhibit. A lovely bonus.

Our Small group tour of the pity Palace was scheduled for 8:45 AM. Our guide did not arrive until around 8:47 AM. We were there 20 minutes early and wandered around, trying to find out where our guide was, feeling somewhat stressed thinking we may have been in the wrong location, even though we followed the directions given. We were very disappointed in several things: 1.. Even though the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the art, the information given sometimes took up to 15 minutes for one painting. Standing in one place for 15 minutes and then Moring to the next painting, a few feet away to stand another 15 minutes in one place was torture. We were told the tour would take almost 2 hours and it took over 2 1/2 hours of mostly standing. The guide also spoke English, but spoke it very slowly, which took her a long time to say what she needed to say, which caused us to have to stand in one place for 15 minutes. 2. Even though you have no control over where Restoration is taking place, you do have knowledge that Restoration is taking place. It is very disappointing that we were not told that we could not enter the living quarters due to Restoration. Have we been told that in advance, We more than likely would have canceled our tour, which may be why you did not tell us. 3. Even though you have no control over where Restoration is taking place, it was quite obvious that the Bobili Gardens had been under construction for some time. The area was a mess. Obviously, since this has been ongoing construction for quite a while, you knew about it and you could’ve told us in advance, giving us the option to choose to continue with the tour or to cancel it. Our party of four is extremely unhappy with this tour experience. It was a waste of our time and our bodies are physically pain for it. I have booked many tours with Viator as my trip is for 1 month, visiting Milan, Florence, Venice, Rome, Sorrento, and Capri. So far all of our tours have been good until today. From standing so long, three of the four of us had our backs cramp up and we are now having difficulty walking. We spent quite a bit of money at the pharmacy, trying to find ways to relieve the pain. We should be compensated for this tour. I usually never complain, so it had to be pretty bad for me to send this review.

Great tour of the palace and gardens! Tour guide Manuel was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions, would highly recommend!

Worth the visit! The Pitti Palace is beautiful and filled with beautiful architecture and art. The Bobboli Gardens go on and on!
