Your tour begins with pickup from your Cusco hotel in time for an 8.30am departure. Admire the views on the around 1-hour journey to Chinchero, the starting point for your bike tour. After meeting your guide and small group of no more than 15 participants, you will be paired with a suitable bike and set out on a thrilling mountain biking trek through the Andes.
Cycle around 7km (4.5 miles) along dirt roads and mountain trails, enjoying spectacular views over the valley, then arrive at the circular terraces of Moray (entrance not included). Hop off to explore the fascinating ruins, built by the Incas as an agricultural research station. Hear how the Incas used the terraces to experiment growing crops at different altitudes and take photos of the remarkable site, which resembles a grass-covered amphitheater.
Continue by bike, descending into Maras, an Andean village in the Sacred Valley, where you can re-fuel with a picnic lunch (included). In the afternoon, cycle to the Maras Salt Mines (entrance not included), or Salinas, another fascinating Inca site, featuring hand-built terraced ‘pools’ in which salt water was evaporated in the sun, enabling them to harvest the salt.
The final part of your tour takes you along the Urubamba River to the traditional village of Urubamba, where your driver will be waiting for you. Back in Cusco, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 6pm.
