Luxor 2-Day Private Tour with Accommodation

★☆☆☆☆ (1/5) Unfortunately, it was one of the worst experiences of our trip to Egypt. We paid about €600 for two people and the tour was absolutely not worth the price. The departure was at 5 a.m. with a private driver. He was polite and drove for over 5 hours, although he was speeding quite a bit and we were scared at the beginning. The organization was terrible: as soon as we arrived, they took us immediately to visit the temples, without giving us time to rest after the trip. We were exhausted and were even told that we had arrived late. The so-called restaurant on the Nile, described as excellent, was dirty, with very poor hygiene. The cutlery was thrown on the table, the food was always the same (meat, chicken, or fish) and of very poor quality. The felucca ride was a total disappointment: instead of a real experience on the Nile with explanations from the guide, it lasted about 10 minutes with constant requests to take photos, play the tambourine, and dance, clearly to get a tip. The Italian guide, paid separately, did not even get on the felucca. On the morning of the hot air balloon ride, the flight was canceled due to the weather, and this can happen. However, the refund was only €72 for two people, an amount that seems really too low compared to the cost of the tour. Also, watch out for hidden costs: drinks are not included, nor are the entrance fees to the temples and attractions, so you have to keep paying extra. The hotel was in terrible condition: ants on the bed, neglected bathroom, broken toilet seat that kept falling off, and no hair dryer, which was only provided after we asked. Breakfast was also disappointing: no juice included, no real coffee (only tea or Nescafé), and a very poor buffet. The last lunch was the only positive note because at least the place was cleaner. The camel ride in the so-called Bedouin village was also a joke: about a 10-minute ride without any explanation about their culture or their way of life. We returned exhausted, and as soon as I got back, I even felt sick. In hindsight, I recommend organizing Luxor directly with local guides: you save money and probably have a much more authentic and well-cared-for experience.

We were picked up bij the driver in our hotel in Marsa Alam. The driver was a nice guy. After a few hours we arrived in Luxor where the guide was waiting for us. During the tour we had a private driver and a private guide. We started at the Karnac temple which was very impressive. The guide told us about the history off the temple. We had lunch at a boat restaurant on the Nile river. The food was not so good. After the lunch the driver and guide took us to the hotel to check in. The hotelroom was clean. In the evening. We started at the Luxor temple and after that we had a feluca ride on the Nile. The feluca ride was very nice. We had dinner in a restaurant we chosed by ourself. The second day started at 5.00 am with a quad safari. It was a pleasant activity. Then the driver and guide took us to the valley of kings. We explored 4 tombs including the tomb from Toetanchamon where we could see the mummie. Then we visited Hatshepsut also an impressive building. We have complements for the driver and guide. Tip for nice tours find other restaurants to eat with western people.

Demiana was amazing and gave us a lot of attention and provided key explanations. She was not pushy and focused on bringing the monuments to life and important events of ancient history. She is a teacher. We had a great experience with her.

Very nice experience! Both our driver Ahmed and guide Ghada were very nice! Unfortunately the balloon ride was cancelled due to weather conditions but we also got a refund for that part of the trip. We did Luxor and Karnak temples, had dinner and overnight stay in nearby hotel followed by lunch, both in a boat restaurant on the river! Very hot, but a very nice experience overall! Would definitely recommend!

Very nice and interesting! We learnt a lot! Both our driver Ahmed and guide Ghada were very helpful and did very well. We were well guided everywhere by both of them! Unfortunately the balloon ride was cancelled on the spot due to bad weather but that was for safety reasons and we also received a refund for that part. Overall, would definitely recommend! 😀
