Such a great tour. It was very informative and interesting, the history is so important for everyone to learn about and our guide Carolina did an amazing job of teaching clearly and keeping us engaged. The walk was very easy even after 10+ hours of traveling.
If you love history, this is for you
I had a solo tour on a Wednesday in August, which turned out to be an amazing experience. Since I was the only person on the tour, I was able to ask as many questions as I wanted, have real conversations with the guide, and even briefly pause for some business calls and emails when needed. My tour guide was incredibly friendly, easygoing, and knowledgeable. What impressed me most was her ability to fill the time with so much history while making it feel authentic and engaging. The tour didn’t feel like a polished, watered-down “made for TV” version of history—it felt real, honest, and raw. The only challenge with any history tour is that there is so much information that it can be difficult to remember everything afterward. Perhaps providing a small takeaway guide or encouraging note-taking could help guests retain more, but ultimately the best approach is to remember the key stories, reflect on the experience, and connect them with the photos taken along the way. Overall, I highly recommend this tour. It was informative, personal, and a truly memorable experience.
Highlight of our trip to Rio
Gabriella was highly informative and offered an extremely enlightening tour. There were very heavy, disturbing aspects of Afro-Brazilian history but disseminating information about those aspects is crucial for navigating that path forward for the entire African diaspora. There were also many aspects of the history that underscored the strength, ingenuity, and resilience of Afro-Brazilians and their ancestors. I highly recommend this tour for everyone.

We had an incredible tour of Little Africa with Ernesto! As a tourism student at UNIRIO and an Afrotourism specialist, he is incredibly knowledgeable. He gave us deep insights into how Africans built vibrant communities through resistance and innovation. I left with a whole new appreciation for the significance of Afro-Brazilian culture. Highly recommend!
