Day 1: (L, D)Depart from your hotel in Puno in an air-conditioned minivan and relax during the scenic journey to Copacabana. Cross the Bolivian border and marvel at the magnificent natural panoramas as you take a boat to the small island town of Challapampa. Disembark and discover the enthralling artifacts of the local museum, perusing exhibitions that speak eloquently of Incan civilization.
Next, venture to the ancient monument of Chincana to witness monolithic stone structures once used to store food; see, too, the Sacred Rock, a landmark steeped in legend relating to the creation of mankind. As the sun begins to sink, watch an authentic Kallawaya Andean ceremony then return to the boat for a delicious dinner. Relax in your private and comfortable double-room until you drift to sleep.
Day 2: (B, L) Wake revitalized and enjoy a continental breakfast onboard the boat. Begin your second adventure with a visit to the atmospheric ruins of Pilko Kaina, a sacred site located on the southern end of Sun Island. Explore the cultural complex of Inti Wata to see per-Incan agricultural terraces and fascinating flora and fauna. Watch llamas and alpacas graze on the green grassland before beginning the smooth return journey back to your hotel in Puno.
