Save your money.
Our guide was nice but the tour did not include a lot of history as most do. Supposedly you get 7 tastings & a brunch. The tastings were 2 actual tastings & the rest were free samples we could have gotten on our own. Those skewers in the photo of meat, we did not get. We got 1 skewer of eel after asking & offering to pay for it ourselves. Picture makes you think everyone gets a skewer. Anyhow, would recommend walking around yourself enjoying the samples & buying what you want. Feel like we got scammed a bit.
Tour the market yourself
I am being nice since our tour guide was a lovely person, but I don’t think this is worth your time nor money. We ate at a not-so-special restaurant for brunch (which our guide said was the best one they offer…) and most of the other “tastings” were free samples. I genuinely feel I wasted money and could have bought more interesting food for much less if I walked around by myself. It’s nice to get to know people but would not recommend.

The whole tour was amazing!! Reiko our tour guide was really nice and helpful answering all our questions. It was a lovely day out and trying all the food!

Great Experience
Nishiki Market is a must see in Kyoto. If you dont want to go to Temples and shrines, this a great culinary and visual experience. We tried about 5 foods and then went to a restaurant. We also walked the street of surrounding area. Take a taxi to meeting stop instead of subway. Iko the guide was a wonderful friendly guide.
